Bloomington Lake

Bloomington Lake is a spectacular, high-elevation glacial lake nestled in the mountains of Southeast Idaho. Famed for its vibrant wildflowers, limestone cliffs, and excellent trout fishing, this pristine destination features two alpine lakes. Because of its unique geological, ecological, and botanical value, it is designated as a protected Special Emphasis Area within the Caribou Revised Forest Plan. Help us preserve its fragile ecosystem by staying on designated trails and packing out all trash.

  • Trailhead Schedule: Opens July 1st annually.
  • Access Requirements: High-clearance vehicles are required to navigate Bloomington Canyon. The final 1/4 mile is restricted to foot traffic only.
  • Amenities: Picnic tables and a pit toilet are available at the trailhead.
  • Fees: There is a $5 day-use fee. Please stop at the envelope station on the right side of the road, roughly one mile before reaching the trailhead, to pay.
