To list your lodging facility you must collect the 2% State of Idaho Travel and Convention Tax.
Letter From the Southeast Idaho High Country Tourism president:
Dear Business Owner,
I hope you are aware of the 2% Travel & Convention Tax Law that is in place here in the State of Idaho and I hope you are collecting and submitting this tax to the State. If not please do so, it is the law.
In addition to the state’s 6% sales tax, Idaho charges a 2% travel and convention tax to occupants of hotel and motel rooms, as well as private campgrounds and vacation home rentals. Anyone required to have a travel and convention tax permit must have an Idaho seller’s permit and collect both taxes. Neither tax applies to lodgers who stay more than 30 days continuously in the same room or space. With this 2% Travel & Convention tax that is collected: 10% goes to the administration of the grant program, 45% goes to fund travel promotion statewide and 45% goes to grants within the region that it was collected in.
You can visit our Local Sales Taxes – http://tax.idaho.gov/i-1117.cfm page to learn about certain sales and/or auditorium district taxes charged in Idaho cities. Lava Hot Springs is one of those cities that also collect a 1% LOT Tax as well as others in Southeast Idaho.
